PHOTOGRAPHIC ART MEETS ARCHITECTURAL ART- THE BED & BREAKFAST BY MICHAEL

Few are the times in a photographer’s career when he or she really has a chance to push their creative and technical skill to the limit and surpass their own expectations. My opportunity to enjoy one of those rewards came with this assignment for the Bischwind Bed and Breakfast in Bear Creek.

Owner Billi English and her Husband Ralph asked me to update their website images with a more professional look and I jumped at the opportunity knowing this was exactly the muse I needed to jump start my love affair with the  CRAFT of photography again.

The historic nature of the building combined with many rooms which were dark and light-absorbent dictated a more sculpted light which is right up my alley.

I relished the richly toned wood and classic paneled doors and did my best to enhance their luxurious quality with carefully placed light.

The image style then required a specific processing technique in post-production which gave it almost a surrealistic quality when I finished reworking the files to my taste.

It was a great pleasure to exercise my skills; to bask in the magnificence of this structure as well as enjoy the company of the fine people who run this establishment.

Mrs. English was both helpful and hospitable. Not to mention her talent for decorating which pulled everything together. She has taken photographs on the grounds before but was smart to realize the interior shots needed someone of a professional caliber and experience to interpret the atmosphere that one feels when experincing these fine accomodations.

It was a day I won’t soon forget.
